Yarra Peaks Ramato 2017
Ramato (auburn) is a rose style wine made from Pinot Grigio. Traditionally the style is found in Friuli and Veneto in Italy. Winemaker Dave Mackintosh, previously Giant Steps and of Arfion fame, used the darker-skins of the Pinot Grigio grapes to stain the wine a pale-copper colour. This wine also has a small amount of arneis in the mix.
It has more fruit weight than a pinot grigio or a pale rose. Smells of perfumed pome fruits, ginger, orange rind. Light to medium weighted, textural, light red-berry fruit juiciness, tangy feel, a subtle-acidity and dry finish. Nice drink with antipasta.
