Querciabella Mongrana 2012
50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot & 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fruit is sourced from three vineyards in Banditella, Podere Harras & Sugherettaia with North-South exposures. Soils are a mixture of silt, alluvial and sand with areas of gravel and pebbles. Vineyards have been managed with biodynamic practices since first planting in 1997.
The grapes are picked by hand and harvested based on their phenolic maturation, using small crates. In the cellar, they undergo fermentation in stainless steel vats. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes elevage both in stainless steel and cement until it's blended to be bottles. Very small quantity of wine is matured in old french barriques depending on the vintage.
Mongrana is made to represent the Maremma region. No animal byproducts are used in the production of this wine, making it suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
