Polz Sauvignon Blanc Steirische Klassik 2011
Steirische Klassik wines are dry white quality wines whose natural ripeness yields up to 12.5% alcohol. These wines are aromatic and fruity, typical of their variety and year. Their essential fruit and mineral character unfolds perfectly thanks to vinification in stainless steel tanks.
These Sauvignons from Austria’s Südsteiermark region really are something else. They show amazing terroir expression and are among the most compelling examples of the variety being made anywhere. Erich and Walter took over the running the estate in the early 1980s and cultivate around 70 hectares of vines. Not really reminiscent of Sancerre or any new world Sauvignon, these make for a very interesting wine list addition.
