A fourth-generation wine-maker, Marcel Joubert boasts a grandfather named Petrus, founder of the appellation Brouilly. The 10 hectare vineyard spreads across AOC Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, Brouilly, Fleurie, Chiroubles and Morgon. Marcel Joubert took over the exploitation in 1972, with in mind the preservation of vines 30 to 100 year old and the desire to farm in a way closest to nature. 
Today: Organic farming practices, following biodynamic principles. Therefore, no chemical fertilizers, only seaweed. Instead of employing defoliants, short, sturdy grass (Paturin) grows on the poor, sandy soil between vine rows. This method creates competition with the vines, encouraging a deeper root system & natural reduction of the yield. Plowing is also a part of the program, to destroy weeds, aerate the soil and promote microbial bio-diversity.
Fruit is sourced from a hillside vineyard, exposed west, with 50 year old vines planted on sandy, stoney soil from volcanic residue. The climate is continental, with protection from the mount Beaujolais in the winter. The influence of the Mediterranean allows for early rises in the temperature in the spring which helps the maturation of the grapes.
The grapes undergo carbonic maceration at 10°- 12° celsius. Maceration, alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation are done with indigenous yeasts and bacteria present in the fruit. After the wine is pressed it is kept in foudres (large wooden vat) and then aged in a mix of wooden vats and barrels for 6-10 months prior to blending and bottling.
The resulting wine is pale red and very clear. It smells of red fruit. It’s light on the palate. It again tastes of red fruits, cherry, with good acidity and a clean finish.
Very nice with roast pork and charcuterie.

The wine has no added sulphur.
