Kaesler Barbera d'Anunda Barbera 2013

Regular price $22.00
100% Barbera. Red brown earth / sandy loam over red clay soils. Barbera planted in 2005.

Barbera is a well-known Italian grape variety. Barbera d’Anunda takes its name from its home town appellation, Tanunda, in the Barossa Valley, and its un-canny similarities with Barbera d’Alba – the famous appellation for Barbera in the Piedmont, Italy. A play on words, but the variety is true to Australian Barbera character.

Fruit was hand-picked, put to open fermenters and hand plunged four times per day for two weeks. Maturation was in 2 & 3 year old French barriques for 10 months. No fining or filtration.

Bright garnet core with rim displaying vivid cherry hues. Lifted floral notes and red berries.
Supple and elegant palate with fine tannins – a medium weighted drink. Vibrant and fresh with lots of bright red berries & Satsuma plums mixed with savoury notes of spice such as fennel and cardamom.

You can enjoy this wine chilled in hot weather. Medium term cellaring 5-8 years.
