Glenwillow Vineyard Shiraz 2012
Grower producers Peter and Cherryl Fyffe established Glenwillow Vineyard on the Sandon-Yandoit Rd at Yandoit Creek in the cooler southern fringe of the Bendigo region in Central Victoria.
The Yandoit Valley is situated between historical Castlemaine and cosmopolitan Daylesford, about 150km north of Melbourne, Australia.
The Yandoit area is steeped in history of the early settlers and the goldrush era. Gold was first discovered in this area within a few hundred metres from the vineyard in the 1850’s.
The vineyard is planted on an elevated, north-facing, aspect of rich volcanic and clay loam with quartz and buckshot gravel.
The 3 hectare vineyard was planted in the late 90s to Shiraz (from Wynns Michael vineyard), Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo and Barbera.
The vineyard is dry grown, minimum fertiliser/sprays are used with biodiversity and natural environmental controls.
"This is a delightful wine with clarity of fruit flavor, elegant style and a wonderful balance of fresh, ripe fruit and a hint of cassis. A beautifully crafted wine with a long palate. Great with a fillet of aged Angus beef."-- Peter Fyffe, Winemaker
