Castello di Verduno is a very notable traditional producer from the Piedmonte region of Italy. The estate is known for producing the very best of Italian wines including Barolo and Barbaresco. The castello also produces a small amount of Langhe Nebbiolo, which has proven to be an excellent example of this variety, indigenous to Verduno, Pelaverga.
This Nebbiolo is reminiscent of a much more expensive Barbaresco. It is a juicy and lip-smacking red wine, with all of its grapes sourced from the Barbaresco vineyards. It displays a clear ruby red colour and carries an intense floral nose. On the palate, plenty of red fruits, violets with hints of roses and subtle spices. Definitely good intensity and brightness at the same time. A match made in heaven with roasts, lamb chops, tagines, what else..?
