Carpe Diem Sangiovese 2014
Situated in the Wilyabrup sub zone of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. The vineyard was established in 2003 by Gianfranco and Francesca Anderle.
The vineyard is planted on gravel and loamy soil, with a northern aspect.
Gianfranco is a qualified oenologist from Conegliano (Northern Italy), one of the oldest wine schools in Europe and has more than 22 years of winemaking experience.
Sangiovese is picked in the coolest part of the day, gently crushed and fermented in small temperature controlled stainless steel open-fermenters. The maceration lasts 8-10 days and followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured in French oak barriques.
The wine is dark-ruby-red to violet in colour. Smells of blackberry, strawberries, anise -- herbal notes -- and mocha.
Have a glass with pork, venison or lamb.
The wine needs to be decanted for at least 30 minutes prior to drinking. Serve at 18° - 20°C.
