Carpe Diem Nebbiolo 2012
Situated in the Wilyabrup sub zone of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. The vineyard was established in 2003 by Gianfranco and Francesca Anderle.
The vineyard is planted on gravel and loamy soil, with a northern aspect.
Gianfranco is a qualified oenologist from Conegliano (Northern Italy), one of the oldest wine schools in Europe and has more than 22 years of winemaking experience.
Grapes are picked in the coolest part of the day and gently crushed. Fermentation is carried out in small temperature controlled stainless steel open fermenters. Maceration lasts for about 8-10 days and is followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured in a mix of French and American oak barriques.
The resulting Nebbiolo wine has a classic brick-orange tinge, hint of rust, colouring similar to aged Pinot Noir. Typically light to look at in the glass with generous aromas of strawberries, rose petals, strawberries and herbal characters. Decant this wine and you will be rewarded with a lot of gentle red-berry fruits, fine tannins and a long gentle finish with musty and dusty oak nuances.
Nebbiolo is a great appetiser or with entrees, mushrooms, chestnuts, fish and the list goes on.
Please decanter this wine for at least 45 minutes.
