Bladen Pinot Gris 2015

Regular price $22.00
Bladen Wines 8 hectare vineyard is located on Conders Bend Road, Renwick in Marlborough's Wairau Valley. Established in 1989 it is planted in Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris (the oldest plantings in Marlborough), and Riesling. These grape varieties are ideally suited to the stony free draining old riverbed soils of the Wairau Valley and to the unique Marlborough climate.

"Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and gently full with lifted aromatics of fresh fermentation esters alongside pear fruit entwined with white florals, and a suggestion of minerals. The fruit depth emerges, forming a fine core. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is fresh, bright and zesty, with a fine, tightly bound heart of pear fruit with white and yellow stonefruits, exotic florals and lifted fermentation esters. The mouthfeel is light, lively and fresh, with lacy acidity, the wine guided by a very fine thread of phenolics that carry the wine to a dry, subtly textured, aromatic finish. This is a fresh and youthful off-dry Pinot Gris with lifted pear and floral fruit, and youthful esters notes. 17.5-20 Sep 2015, 4 stars." --  Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
