Arnoux-Lachaux Bourgogne Pinot Fin 2013

Regular price $60.00
This phenomenal wine will need no introduction to those who know this Estate. It has long been one of the very finest examples of Bourgogne AOC. It comes from four parcels of Pinot Fin, the revered Pinot selection, including one parcel planted in 1959 at Premeaux, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The latter vineyard perennially suffers from millerandage (resulting in tiny berries and bunches) and thus generates very low yields of rich, concentrated juice. Even at this level, the wine is fermented with 40% whole bunches and 50% of the cuvée is raised in 2-year-old barrels, the remainder in tank. Old vines, low yields and great terroirs-not all Bourgogne rouge is created equal. Racier and sappier than the '12, yet with equally lovely texture and depth. 'Very Pinot', as the Burgundians like to say. Too good for the level, which is simply business as usual for this cuvee.

"Outstanding. Top Value. There is really lovely complexity for a wine at this level with its layered aromas of red berries, earth and soft spice nuances. There is fine richness and volume to the delicious middle weight flavors that deliver fine length on the refreshing finish. Worth considering, especially for value." 86-89 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Issue 57
