Dappled is a micro-producer in the Upper Yarra Valley, bringing to market fewer than 10'000 bottles per year. Shaun Crinion, the mastermind winemaker and owner behind Dappled, is truly a rising star in the Yarra Valley region and beyond. So much so, he was awarded Best New Winery by James Halliday's Wine Companion in 2018, and also notably Young Gun of Wine in 2017.
Shaun's vision is simple. "I started Dappled in 2009 with a view to make high quality, unadulterated wines from special patches of dirt at realistic prices. I make these wines fiirst and foremost for my family and friends, so a hand-crafted, minimal intervention philosophy just makes perfect sense to me."
The wine pours out a bright ruby red colour and has high notes of cherry liqueur and raspberry fruit. There’s also complex aromas of roasted chicory and chinese five spice. The palate is round and lush with cherry cola and red berry flavours. Its silky smooth on the mid palate with spice and complex flavours. Sappy tannins fanning out to finish.
