Glorious Spring is here. Its fickle and the weather can change quickly from calm and sunny to cold and windy. Keeping an umbrella handy is key. Here is an umbrella of wines to comfortably see you covered over this tricky time for wine. The focus is on lighter, aromatic, wines to help usher the warmer weather.

Sparkling wines like Prosecco and lighter examples of Sauvignon Blanc, Albarinho, Chenin Blanc, Muscadet, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chardonnay, Vinho Verde and Moscato pair well with lighter dishes of the Spring season.

Orange wines, Rose and Lambrusco are a great midway point.

Lighter examples of red wines like Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Gamay and Temmpranillo continue the focus on aromatics and lightness and have enough about them to match up to grilled meat dishes or warm salads.

It's also another opportunity to broaden your tastes by trying bottle fermented sparkling wines and neuvoeou styled reds -- unoaked and fresh, made to be enjoyed in their youth. Chilling reds when the weather is warmer than expected isn't out of the question either.
