Rhen Dodd and Janelle De Gabriele are the names behind Ephemera. Based out of the Yarra Valley, they makes wines from their organically grown vineyard there. They also have a passion of Heathcote fruit, from where they source grapes for some of their wines from the Chalmers vineyard.
Vermentino, sourced from the renowned Chalmers vineyard, Rhen and Janelle have taken a minimalist approach in making this wine. They've allowed the grapes to ferment on skins for 6 days. What's come of it is a very elegant, well-presented and well drinking skin-contact Vermentino. A tad interesting and funky on the nose, this wine gently coats the mouth and delicately delivers flavours of ripe apples and pears. Just enough acidity to balance the wine. Lingers nicely on the palate for a while.
